Our mission at House of Hope Maryland is to offer, hope, healing, and solutions for hurting teens by providing a safe, nurturing environment, structured education, Christian counseling and spiritual guidance.
Our vision is to heal, restore and reconcile hurting teens and their families.
Kathy Hambrecht learned of House of Hope at a Women of Faith conference in Washington, D.C. Founder and president, Sara Trollinger, shared her story and vision to have a House of Hope within driving distance of every major city by the year 2010. A teenage girl currently residing at House of Hope Orlando then gave her testimony. Kathy was so moved by these two individuals that she knew in her heart that God was revealing His plan for her – she was to establish House of Hope in Maryland. He confirmed this repeatedly to her over the following months through sermons, music, readings, and even through media coverage of increased teen violence and suicides in our community.
Now, House of Hope Maryland is a reality. Kathy feels blessed to be a part of this life-changing ministry and is dedicated to helping teens and families discover the hope and healing that can be found only through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Twenty-two years ago Sara Trollinger, a former schoolteacher, was led by the Lord to establish a faith-based ministry, House of Hope in Orlando, Florida. This ministry is a residential program where hurting, troubled teens can learn to accept responsibility, submit to authority, and get along with peers and adults. The emphasis in this Christ-centered environment is on healing and restoring teens and their families Sara started House of Hope in 1985 with five people praying and $200. Today, House of Hope Orlando has changed the lives of hundreds of young people, their families, and countless friends. In 2001, Sara founded National House of Hope, which is the catalyst for developing Houses of Hope across America and internationally. House of Hope Orlando serves as the National model after which other Houses of Hope pattern themselves.
