Why Run?

Every year more than 1.3 million kids run away from home.  Many of these children have been subjected to alcohol and drug addiction, as well as demoralizing sexual and verbal abuse.  These teens are starving for love and affirmation, and they often search for it in all the wrong places.  They tend to make self-destructive decisions further worsening their condition.  Sometimes, when all else fails, these teens resort to suicide.

House of Hope Maryland believes that through a structured, nurturing environment, these hurting teens can learn to lead productive, enriching lives.  Your support will help to make this vision possible right here in Maryland.  The proceeds from this race will contribute toward our long-term plan to provide a residential home and school for at-risk adolescents, and toward offsetting the cost of individual and group Christian counseling services as well as parenting classes now being provided for families.  Based on the successful model of the first House of Hope, established in Orlando, Florida, we aim to provide both workable and successful solutions in restoring troubled teens and their families.  We thank you in advance for making a difference in our community!
